Shaftesbury bounced back from the disappointing result against Pagham on Saturday, January 28, with a 3-0 win over struggling side Bournemouth, who arrived at Coppice Street without a win since September.

Sam Bayston lobbed visiting keeper Noah Crisp after three minutes, and Liam Farrugia headed the second from Dan Neild’s corner after 12 minutes. Ash Pope cut in for the third goal with 11 minutes left. Bournemouth had Bruno Manuel sent off late on.

The team played well against struggling Pagham. The Sussex side rode their luck. Dominic Pansear-Dower had a 43rd-minute penalty saved by Pagham keeper Lewis Boughton. Substitute Tom Holland won it for Pagham in the 87th minute.

Luke Burbidge and Jim Milligan have signed the experienced Frankyn Clarke from Portland United. Clarke has added some quality to the midfield. Aiden Shepherd has returned from Hamworthy United. Shepherd hit 20 goals for Shaftesbury in 2021/22.

Rockies with a purpose were ready to face Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
