November 11 was marked in the traditional manner at Wylye Valley C of E Primary School, Codford, with a moving ‘Last Post’ played on the cornet by Helen Thornton. The whole school, from Reception through to Year 6, assembled in the playground with teachers and staff to observe a minute’s silence in honour of the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for our future.

In the afternoon, Revd Jayne Buckles led a ‘Zoom’ worship from her home, live-streamed across all the classes in the school. She spoke about the human cost of life across all the countries around the world since the First World War and reminded the children there are still wars going on in our world today.

She told them: “The price of war is a heavy one.”

Jayne finished the service with a prayer and pupils joined in with the Lord’s Prayer to round off a very moving day.
