Codford’s Wylye Valley C of E Primary School’s Franklin Class, Years 3 and 4, led by Mrs Paul, created an eco-friendly Christmas gift-making project, complete with packaging, gift tag and a Christmas card.

There was just one catch…it had to be environmentally friendly with minimal impact on the planet’s precious resources.  This meant no shiny wrapping paper, no glitter, and definitely no plastic.

The tag and the card required creative finger-painting which produced some fantastically eye-catching Christmas cards and the brown paper gift-tags were adorned with messages and pictures by the children. The wrapping was simple but effective; decorated recyclable brown paper bags tied up with ribbon.

For the gift, the children made shortbread biscuits cut out as snowflakes, stars and gingerbread men.  Each was festooned with chocolate drops and placed inside the packaging.

“It was a Christmas miracle indeed if any of the delightful biscuits make it to Christmas day,” Mrs Paul said.
