As part of Green Week at Bruton School for Girls, Prep to Sixth Form students helped harvest the apples in the school’s orchards.

The apples went to local Somerset apple juice and cider maker Oliver Dowding.

The annual Green Week focuses on eco-related issues.  The girls took part in other activities, from dying fabric with natural colours from fruits and spices in Art Textiles to making Beeswax paper as a sustainable alternative to cling-film in the Food department.

Headmistress, Nicky Botterill, said: “Green issues and sustainability have been firmly established in our school ethos for some time and we are the only school in the South West to have been awarded the Eco Schools Ambassador Award.”

“We can’t fail to notice the subject is becoming more and more important, and as a school, we have a duty to help educate the girls about environmental issues that affect us all.”
