New head of residential sales at Savills Salisbury is James McKillop.

He started his career as a graduate with Savills in 2007, so James is returning to the company after almost nine years with Knight Frank.

In his previous role, he ran the south west team in the country department, working in Sherborne, Bath, Bristol and Exeter in the prime market.

James was brought up in the Chalke Valley and went to prep school in Salisbury. He then moved to Bristol for university and London for work, before moving back to Hampshire with his family, where he is renting while searching for a new home.

“I am extremely excited to join Savills again, working in and around my home town,” says James, who is a chartered surveyor. “Last year was an extraordinary year for the country market, with the pandemic boosting demand for homes with more space in village and country locations. Salisbury offers a wonderful lifestyle to buyers and has everything you could need, with a beautiful city and popular villages all around. Communications are excellent and there are schools aplenty. I think we will continue to see demand build in and around the city over the next 12 to 18 months, particularly as values are better than some of the other surrounding towns and cities. With a new and energised residential sales team, I can’t wait to help take the office from strength to strength.”

Overall, prime regional house prices rose by 3.6% in 2020, according to Savills prime house price index. Values in the wider south region saw growth of 1.3% in the final quarter of the year, taking annual growth to 4.6%. In the Salisbury area, there was 2.4% growth last year.
