I am disgusted by the complaints published in the August issue concerning publication of articles about the disastrous effects of our membership of the EU.

Salisbury is exceedingly lucky in having a newspaper like the Valley News which publishes both sides of the Brexit debate.

We have suffered from nearly 50 years of pro-EU propaganda which has drawn a curtain over the vast costs of membership. Just interest on total net budgetary payments must have cost us about £7 billion last year alone.

In addition, trading with the EEC/EU, since 1973, has cost us a balance of trade deficit currently totalling nearly £2 trillion, while our trade with the rest of the world has currently earned us a surplus of £477 billion.

Yet Remainers claim our trade will suffer if we leave the EU! So, I applaud Valley News and hope it will continue to publish articles on the effects of the UK by being in the EU.

This is in total contrast to the continual pro-EU propaganda spewed out in general and the BBC in particular: not forgetting the £millions wasted by the Conservative Party on their lying pro-EU pre-referendum leaflet to every household in the UK!
