Many Wilton residents and shoppers will be disappointed to learn of the end of the line for a beautifully-presented charity shop in the heart of the town.

Wilton’s charity shop Brainwave will not re-open after lockdown due to the loss in footfall over the past year.

The charity is based in Bridgwater and issues with logistics have also contributed to the closure.

“I have tried launching quizzes and re-merchandising the shop but unfortunately we have to close,” said Donna Jones, shop manager.

“I have absolutely loved working for Brainwave, it was a really rewarding and satisfying job. Being able to help children with disabilities and seeing the impact the help of the charity had on the children was amazing.

“A big thank you to everyone who supported the shop over the years. I will miss the locals and the chats we used to have,” Donna confided.

Donna hopes to continue in a rewarding role working with people, perhaps going into nursing.
