Local people who want to improve the lives of young people could join a team of volunteer.

Seeds4Success, based in Mere, an award-winning charity that supports young people who face barriers. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on young people means the role is more vital. An independent positive role model in their life will be all the difference many will need.

A spokesperson said: ”Our mentors meet with a young person regularly for a year or so and use their skills and experience to build a positive relationship, helping to develop social skills, self-esteem, confidence and resilience, as well as achieving their goals and reaching their potential.

“Our mentoring programme is possible thanks to the generous donations of many local people, including the family and friends of Jamie Mackaness. During his time in the military, Jamie mentored young recruits and peers, leaving a lasting impression and legacy. Following Jamie’s sad passing in 2018, his family and friends raised, and continue to raise, a significant amount of funding in support of Seeds4Success.”
