Five local charities have been given a much-needed boost by McCarthy and Stone, the developer of Monument Place Retirement Living Plus on Endless Street, Salisbury.

Monument Place is the developer’s 100th Retirement Living Plus community, and the company is celebrating by giving £100 to five local groups. These include Horatio’s Garden South West, Burnbake Trust, Cancer Support Salisbury, Alzheimer’s Support Wiltshire, and Salisbury Hospice Charity.

Salisbury’s Horatio’s Garden South West supports spinal injury patients and their families and friends, facing long stays in NHS hospitals. by creating and caring for beautiful gardens,

Alzheimer’s Support aims to improve quality of life of families affected by dementia in Wiltshire, helping them to maintain as much independence and control over their lives as possible.

Burnbake Trust, Wilton, provides essential household goods to disadvantaged local people which have been donated to them, sometimes in emergency situations.

Cancer Support Salisbury offers emotional and practical support to anyone affected by cancer. The community group offers volunteer befrienders to provide a listening ear, as well as a range of complementary therapies, including aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and reiki.

Salisbury Hospice Charity works to fund invaluable services provided by the Salisbury Hospice, such as palliative care and support for terminally-ill patients within the Salisbury area.

Designed for those aged 70 and over, Monument Place bridges the gap between conventional retirement living and residential care – presenting a unique proposition for Salisbury retirees.
