An annual survey by Halifax listed the top places in the country for ‘quality of life’, based on a number of factors.

Wiltshire was placed 28th out of 50 , beating Winchester, Swindon and the New Forest.

The annual rundown looks at a total of 26 different criteria to compare local authority areas in the UK.

Factors such as employment rates, earnings, housing affordability, health and wellbeing, education, traffic and crime rates are all taken into consideration.
