Police are investigating an incident at an address in Porton between 10am and 11am on Wednesday May 20.

A man in his 90s was at his home address in The Avenue, when a caller at his door claimed to be a new neighbour. He told the elderly man his tiles were broken and needed fixing and that he could carry out the work for an initial price of £500.

The resident handed over some cash and was told to withdraw more from the local bank to pay the man later that day. In total, £1,500 cash was handed over but no work was carried out and the man left the scene in an unknown direction later.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his 40s or 50s, approximately 5ft 11ins tall and strong build, wearing a black T-shirt with a North Face logo. His hair was short and cropped.
