A survey has found Gillingham and Salisbury is among the worst places to have access to pharmacies.

A survey by online pharmacy Medicine Direct on physical pharmacies on England’s high streets compiled ‘Pharmacy Blackspots’ and towns and cities in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland with the worst access to pharmacies based on the numbers of residents served by each pharmacy in their area.

Gillingham is said to be in a list of towns with the ninth worst access to a community pharmacy in the UK, but Salisbury among the areas with the worst access to a pharmacy, serving an average of about 5,956 people in a list of similar areas, compared with parts of Central London had the best access to a pharmacy, with those residing in the EC postcode area having access to pharmacies responsible for 1,132 people each.

The ‘Pharmacy Blackspots’ study reveals the towns and cities in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland with the worst access to pharmacies based on the amount of residents currently served by each pharmacy in their area.
