Two men have been jailed for 26 weeks after pleading guilty to stealing a large quantity of alcohol from a Salisbury supermarket.

Marian Stoica, aged 31, from Hounslow, and Vasile Neamtu, aged 36, from Coventry, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court for sentencing today, Tuesday, February 11.

Warrants have been issued for two other defendants, Ziad Ell-Abboud and Luigi Dutu, charged with the same offences but failed to appear in court.

The charges relate to shoplifting at Sainsbury’s in The Maltings, where £1,272.45 worth of alcohol was stolen on 2/9/19.

On the morning of the offence Wiltshire officers were alerted to a black Ford Mondeo, known to have links to high-value shoplifting offences in other force areas.

Plain clothes officers followed the vehicle on the A30 London Road and watched it park in the Central car park, before the occupants split up and all walked into Sainsbury’s separately.

When they returned to the car the stolen items were seized and all four arrested.
