Controlling unemployment is the big challenge in the weeks to come, according to Andrew Murrison, MP for South West Wiltshire.
Speaking about the extended furlough scheme, he told Valley News: “The Chancellor is right to extend furlough which, with the other measures taken, will help to keep local businesses ticking over and preserve jobs. That will increase the chances of a sharp economic recovery. We need to control unemployment in the weeks ahead while we get better at dealing with COVID, and hope consumer sentiment picks up later this year.
