All 20 leisure centres in the county will re-open on Monday, April 12, under Step 2 of the roadmap out of lockdown.

All 10 of Wiltshire Council’s managed leisure centres include gym, swimming and some racket sport court hire where available, but indoor group exercise classes are not permitted until May 17 at the earliest. Most leisure centres will have some outdoor group exercise class programmes, with limited numbers. The council’s online class programme continues until the end of May.

The council said health and safety of visitors and staff remained a priority, including social distancing and increased hygiene measures. Customers must also continue to book online in advance, to help manage the number of people at each centre at any given time. Online booking for council-run centres is now available for members and available for non-members from April 10.

Swimming lessons for children resume on 12 April 12, but lessons not planned to resume in January will not return immediately in April. The leisure teams are making plans to enable these lessons to return as soon as possible.

Gymnastics lessons resume at Five Rivers and start at Springfield, from April 12, Lessons at Tidworth are unable to start at the moment due to the unavailability of the sports hall.

Active Health services at leisure centres start from April 12 except Active Health classes, which remain online until at least May 17.

Sports development outdoor activities including Healthier Communities, StreetGames and Walking Sports should return from April 12 with appropriate social distancing measures. Existing participants will be contacted about their session. The Get Wiltshire Walking project resumes from Tuesday, May 4.

The council would usually review prices for activities and memberships in April, but when the centres reopen, all prices will remain the same as in January. For more information, visit www.wiltshire.gov.uk/leisure-online-classes
