A drug driver stopped by police on the A303 was banned from the roads for 15 months and fined nearly £600.

In January, mobile patrols eastbound on the A303, near Cholderton, pulled over a black Vauxhall Corsa due to ANPR data which showed it was being driven without MOT or insurance.

Driver Daniel Stevens appeared distracted and vacant and took several seconds to register the police presence.

The officers were concerned about his behaviour and a roadside drug wipe gave a positive indication for cannabis.

Stevens, 24, of Egerton, Kent, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on August 3 and pleaded guilty to all the alleged offences. He was disqualified from driving for 15 months, ordered to pay a £596 fine, plus a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs of £85.
