Air pollution levels are dangerous in Wiltshire, according to the Liberal Democrats.

Bath’s new Clean Air Zone will push traffic into Westbury and Bradford on Avon areas, and the Lib Dems are disappointed that the zone had been introduced.

They questioned why Wiltshire Council had not made any contingency plans given that this has been on the cards for a very long time.

The Lib Dems have declared improving public transport as a main priority after the local elections in May and they promised to invest in electric buses and cycle ways to encourage people to drive less.

Criticising the Tory-led Wiltshire Council’s record, the party claimed the council has not done enough to improve green transport in the county, making it difficult for residents to choose the green option.

The party is asking the public to support their plan to increase electric charging ports across Wiltshire. It would also support outlined plans to build train stations in Wilton, Corsham, Devizes and Porton as part of a strategy to improve transport across all of Wiltshire.
