Wiltshire councillor Cllr Brian Dalton was supported by all members of the unitary authority when he called for support for the local air ambulance.

Cllr Brian Dalton said: “I’m happy that the council, after a good debate, accepted my motion to continue to support Wiltshire Air Ambulance in its request for compensation from government. The emergency services which lost equipment were given funding, but Wiltshire Air Ambulance, a charity, is still waiting. I hope this comes to a successful ending for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.”

The council agreed to meet Wiltshire Air Ambulance leaders to formulate a campaign and go directly to government to recover the costs. Wiltshire MPs would also be asked to support the campaign for fair treatment of the charity.

Wiltshire Council leader Philip Whitehead said: “The Air Ambulance is a precious resource which plays a crucial role in responding to emergency events in Wiltshire. This was an important motion which was supported by all councillors at the meeting.”
