At its meeting on March 8 via Zoom, Warminster Town council’s Finance and Audit committee will consider funding for community sites in the town.

The Athenaeum Centre wants to continue restoration work and an extension, with refurbishment of the theatre’s technical facilities and auditorium seating and décor.

An extension at the rear of the stage and auditorium will provide new gender-segregated dressing rooms facilities on the first floor, with improved and accessible facilities on the ground floor, full wheelchair and ramp access, and personal care facilities. The Athenaeum will also apply to the Lottery Commission (LC) (Arts Council) for funding but is asking the town council for £10,000 to cover stage 1.

Councillors will discuss support for the request and make a recommend to the next full council meeting.

The Town Development Committee has asked the committee to consider a request to support a Community Asset Transfer (CAT) Application for the Hub Building.

If the property is classed as being of strategic importance to the council, the Cabinet Capital Assets Committee have the final say, taking into account the recommendation of the Area Board.

Members’ recommendation will go to the next full council meeting.

The Development Committee wants to purchase the Police Station and the committee members will discuss whether to support the request and make a recommendation to the full council.

The Development Committee has asked the Finance and Audit Committee to consider a request for £5,000 and £10,000 to make plans for town centre regeneration. There is currently no budget for it but the F&A committee will debate support for the request and should identify the sum of money allocated and from which budget.
