A council wants to install a surveillance camera to catch motorists who have bumped into other vehicles in a car park as they dash to use a public loo.

It is the ONLY public toilet between Andover and Devizes and Salisbury and Marlborough, and it is free to use.

The camera will catch the registration number of the culprit’s car in Ludgershall.

The police will be brought in to look at the camera to trace the offender who will have to pay for the damage.

Ludgershall Town Council wants quotes from companies to install the camera in the car park by the toilet.

Cllr Owen White said people were going to the council offices to report their cars had been damaged in the car park.

“We have a problem – it was agreed this needed to be done to identify the offending vehicles in the car park.

“These toilets are heavily used. That is why we have kept them open during the pandemic, but we (the council) do not accept responsibility for damage to cars.”
