Wylye Valley photographer Chris Lock never imagined he would still be creating the yearly calendars he started more than 10 years ago in 2008.

Although there have been some gaps, the previous nine issues raised in excess of £38,000.

When working as a volunteer for Hope and Homes for Children, a charity based in East Clyffe, Salisbury, Chris embarked on using his creativity to do some fundraising.

“I wanted to raise some money for the charity, so I decided to use my photography to create a local calendar featuring seasonal landscapes and village scenery,” said Chris.

Hope and Homes for Children remove youngsters from unpleasant orphanages in Eastern Europe and Africa. The charity workers attempt to reunite children with family members when they can, or place them with a kind foster family.

This year, Chris wants to take his fundraising further, creating a second calendar covering the Nadder Valley.

“I enjoy making the calendars as a photography project but I am also passionate about the charity. The calendar usually raises £4,000 to £5,000. I hope to increase that this year with the addition of the Nadder Valley.”

“I am chuffed because I didn’t imagine it would do so well and people buy it every year now, so it has become a tradition,” Chris added.

The Wylye Valley calendar is sold at various outlets across the valley including Budgens and Wylye Post Office.

The Nadder Valley edition will be available from Tisbury Post Office and both can be ordered from Chris’ website: https://www.chrislockphotography.co.uk/section709718.html

Calendars cost £10.50 and are supplied with a mail envelope if sending as a gift. All proceeds go to Hope and Homes for Children.
