It has been a very busy during the lockdown for Wilton Bowls club, developing its clubhouse. So far, a new disabled entrance door and a new disabled toilet and fire door were installed, checked and all lighting, installed a heating system replaced.

New ladies toilets, new hot water heater in the kitchen (old roof tank/emersion heater gone), were created, and a dishwasher installed, all paid for by members’ donations and a grant. The work will be completed by placing a hand basin and water heater in the bar and replacing the cooker and sideboard.

Members hope to play this season, perhaps starting in May. An Open weekend at the end of May for all ages is planned for those who’d like to ‘come and try it out’. All that’s needed is flat shoes and we will provide the bowls and coaching skills will be provided.

“We would be thrilled if people turned up to have a go,” said chairman David Parker-Smith.
