A raft of grants totaling £26.5 million has been awarded to organisations to help save culture in South West.

The annual Chalke Valley History Festivals, Broad Chalke has received £260,000 and Wiltshire Creative, Salisbury, £446,968 among 129 South West venues sharing £26,560,756.

Dorset museums also did well and the County Museum, Dorchester was given £213,121.

Stagecore Productions Ltd, Blandford Forum received £50,000 and Sturminster Newton Community Building Trust £59,491, and The Tank Museum, Bovington £780,000.

The £26.5 million cash boost comes from the government’s new Culture Recovery Fund.
