Mental Health is in the spotlight and Wiltshire Liberal Democrats have organised a seminar open to the public to spread awareness. Researchers from the University of Bath have joined the seminar.

They will present their research on topics such as loneliness in young people in the context of Covid-19, stopping smoking, mental health and the use of cannabis and its impact.

Time to Talk Day on Thursday, February 4, aims to spark conversations about mental health. This also coincides with Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week next week supported by Wiltshire Council.

Possibly one in eight people who have had Covid-19 are diagnosed with their first psychiatric or neurological illness within six months of testing positive for the virus. In Wiltshire alone.

Cllr Gordon King, Health and Wellbeing Spokesperson for the Wiltshire Lib Dems, said: “We know that the more conversations we have about mental health, the more myths we can correct which will help to end the isolation and shame associated by mental health.

“It is integral that mental health is treated in the same conversation as physical health. Together can end the stigma surrounding mental health and this event aims to do that.”
