Since moving to Tisbury in 2013 Jay Henderson has wondered why thethe village had no barbershop in.

“I began training as a barber in 2015, and since then I have worked in Salisbury, Shaftesbury and Gillingham, and wherever I worked, I always met clients who had travelled in from Tisbury. So when I heard of the high street premises becoming available during lockdown, I wasted no time and started planning to open a barber shop.

“It was a scary thought, due to the uncertainty around another lockdown, and knowing that the industry had changed, possibly forever, but I knew I needed to give it a go.

“I wanted to work in a barber shop in which I had complete control over my day’s work. So I decided an appointment system would be the best way for me to ensure my days ran smoothly, as well as minimising any queuing and long waiting times for my clients. So people can simply visit the website, and book themselves a haircut. Jay provides a broad range of gent’s styles, beards, and a discount for seniors and children. The most popular modern cut is a skin fade, and Jay prides himself on producing these to a high standard.

“Since opening up in Tisbury the shop has been really well received by locals who had to travel 10 miles to the nearest barber shop! I’m pleased to be here for them, and I am incredibly grateful for the support my loyal clients have given me by following me from shop to shop, I have definitely stopped moving now, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds here at Hendo’s Barbershop.
