During these strange times, it is easy to forget about dentist appointments, but Daniela Popovici (pictured right) from The Private Treatment Centre is keen to emphasise how important a visit is. Not only is it beneficial for your oral health, but it can give a feeling of normalcy and return to routine.

“Most people have looked after their oral hygiene well during lockdown, since a visit to the dentist was not possible. But attending your dental appointments is essential as we are trained to notice any change from normal that may indicate a larger health issue, in which case we can then refer you to a specialist for further checks.”

At The Private Treatment Centre we have taken all the necessary precautions to ensure a safe visit to our practice. From guidelines set by our regulator, including wearing the appropriate PPE and thorough surgery disinfection after each patient, to extra safety measures implemented such as air purifiers, high volume extractors and UV lamps.

Looking after your teeth

Daniela gives readers a gentle reminder on how to look after their teeth.

“When cleaning your teeth make sure you pay attention to all of your teeth, including the ones in the back of your mouth, as the plaque build-up can lead to bleeding gums and bad tooth ache. Of course, the food you eat plays an important role in maintaining the health of your teeth. A balanced diet, with a focus on green vegetables, is essential. And please avoid sugary drinks as much as possible!”

Avoid bad breath

“Good dental routine helps avoid bad breath, which includes daily inter-dental cleaning. Despite the fresh breath feeling, mouthwash should not be used on its own as it is not a substitute for tooth-brushing. If you do have bad halitosis, we can check your teeth and gums. If they are healthy, we would advise you to go the doctor.”
