Premises selling food or drink, such as cafes, restaurants and pubs can now apply for a pavement licence, Wiltshire Council has announced today, Tuesday, July 7.

The businesses can put tables and chairs on the public highway to attract more customers and increase trade, but they must keep to social distancing and not block safe passage.

Temporary pavement licences, available free of charge, will last for 12 months, subject to a statutory notice period of 10 working days for comment.

The council has the option to charge for the service, but wants to support businesses during the crisis.

Businesses can download the application form at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/licences-permits-temporary-pavement-licences.

Completed application forms should be emailed to streettrading@wiltshire.gov.uk. Applications can be viewed for consultation on the same page.
