Now in it’s 43rd year the independent Wilton House Antique Fair, a three-day event, at the home of the Earl & the Countess of Pembroke attracted lovely spring weather and lots visitors for a good day out.

The 40 exhibitors presented a spectacular choice of art, antiques, design and decorative arts. Authenticity was assured by a specialist vetting committee and with prices ranging from £50 to more than £50,000, pieces appealed to established collectors and first-time buyers.

Well-known dealers attending the fair included Mark Goodger with his antique boxes and accessories, Brian Watson with beautiful 18th & 19th century glass and Sheldon Shapiro & Co., offering fine jewellery.

Fine Art specialists included Haynes Fine Art, Sarah Colegrave and Freya Mitton who were offering top quality 19th – 20th century paintings, while Freshfords Antiques displayed fine C18th and C19th furniture.

Interesting new dealers to Wilton included Burgett Langfield with beautiful French decorative furniture, the Vangelli Gallery, fine antiquarian specialists from Duke Street, St. James’, Shine on Design, dealers in Art Deco furniture & accessories, Garret & Hurst specialists in 18th – 21st century marble & bronze sculpture, Cherry Picked Antiques with an wonderful eclectic mix of small antiques and, after nearly a 35 year gap, the formal and country furniture specialists, Wakelin & Linfield

This year’s award for the best-dressed stand by Lord Pembroke went to Wakelin & Linfield, specialists in formal and country English and Continental antique furniture, fine art, sculpture, ceramics and glass and many other decorative items for the home.
