It’s going to be a scorcher this weekend with highs of 32 deg in Salisbury.

In the current climate, we are being encouraged to stay local and support local. Here are just some of the great local places you can visit this weekend to make the most of the sunshine.

See the bright blue lake at Fonthill, Salisbury

Take a walk around the colourful Fonthill Lake which in recent weeks has turned a bright blue.

The drive to Fonthill Estate is just as picturesque as the lake itself, surrounded by countryside and woodland.

Soak up the sunshine in the Beckford Arms beer garden. This country pub has a lovely sun-trap terrace offering beer and wood-fired pizzas during the summer months. Watch the sun go down over Fonthill lake and eat and drink the night away.

While in the area, visit Bird and Carter café for a refreshing salad lunch or embrace the English summer with a cream tea.

Garden at Beckford Arms

Stroll around world-famous gardens at Stourhead, near Mere and Warminster

Home to an 18th-century Palladian mansion, the world-famous garden and lake at Stourhead is a great location for a sunny day. Choose from a variety of yummy flavours at the ice cream parlour or relax with a cold beer from the Spread Eagle Inn.

Paddle in the river at Fordingbridge Park

Fordingbridge park is perfectly-placed for some fun in the sun. The park and play equipment are open and children can safely paddle their feet in the river.

Make a booking at The George for a spot of lunch by the river: although their riverside garden is fully booked, there is still some availability in the conservatory.

Keep cool with some Wiltshire made ice cream in Devizes

Rowdey Cow Cafe make their own ice cream with a helping hand from the cows on their farm. From classic flavours like Belgium chocolate to new favourites, including Biscoff and salted caramel, this farm café has all the summer essentials.

Party in the sun at Salisbury City Garden

Salisbury City Garden is here to save the festival season. The pop-up bar in Guildhall Square has a variety of food and drink on offer and lots of outdoor seating so you can celebrate in the sun.

Championing local food and drink, try out some Wiltshire ale or get your teeth stuck into a locally-sourced burger from Gourmet-Farm.

Jump in the river at The Old Mill in Harnham

A beer garden and a river for swimming, what more could you want on a sunny day? Let the children play in the river as you safely keep watch from the outdoor seating at The Old Mill pub.

Let the kids run wild at Cholderton Charlies, near Salisbury

Sunshine makes for the perfect family day out. This weekend, keep it local and head down to Cholderton Charlie’s farm just off the A303 to pet some furry friends, wander along a nature trail, and meet Molly the milkable cow!
