A new independent pet shop opened in Salisbury on Saturday, February 6.

Clearway Pets owners Mike and Emily Adamson have always been in the pet business, with Mike working in a pet shop since he was 13 years old, and Emily since she was 17.

Crazy about dogs, they have two energetic Springer Spaniels and Mike and Emily own Clearway Kennels on London Road.

“We saw a gap in the market for an independent pet shop in the city centre, so decided to extend the Clearway brand,” said Mike.

“We have installed two little see-through domes so our dogs can look into the pet shop and see what is going on. They love visiting the shop and the customers love to see them!”

The pet shop stocks pet food, raw food, accessories, toys, cages, fish tanks and much more.

“We have our own brand of food and we can also order in any particular brand customers may be looking for. We also offer local delivery to Salisbury and surrounding villages.”

Mike told New Valley News: “We have a huge selection of the Joules range from dog leads to coats and it’s really popular. We have more Joules items to come in the following weeks.”

Starting a new business during an ongoing pandemic is a brave decision.

“It was really nerve-racking. We built everything ourselves, which was good, because it gave us something to concentrate on and forget about the real world. We were just worried whether we would see any customers when we opened the doors, but we did!

The opening day was a success and the store had many positive comments.

“People said they were pleased to see an independent pet shop in the city centre and they didn’t have to go out down the busy Southampton Road to get their pet supplies,” said Mike.

In the coming weeks, Clearway Pets will open an upstairs showroom featuring bedding, hutches and cages.
