Drapers, “the bible of the fashion industry” for more than 130 years, and proud supporter of UK retail, announced in October that Luxury Bubble, the fashion and homeware shop in Fordingbridge had been chosen as one of this year’s Inspiring Independents.

A Drapers’ representative said: “We have been celebrating the brilliance and resilience of independent fashion for more than 30 years. Under lockdown, many went above and beyond to support local communities and continue to serve their customers, often hand-delivering purchases to homes. We would like to congratulate Luxury Bubble for rising to the challenge of the pandemic, and continuing to support their neighbourhoods in these exceptional circumstances.”

Luxury Bubble has a team of beauty therapists that offer many treatments including facials, pedicures, one-to-one make-up services, massages and medical aesthetics. The shop is spacious and bright with a French country theme. The ground floor displays a selection of stylish, clothes and jewellery, round table displays local hand-made candles and oils, with a beauty retail area. Upstairs is the treatment room with an informal café, with a delicious menu of salads and smoothies.

Manager Sian Currie, delighted by the award, told New Valley News: “It’s been quite possibly the worse year to open a shop but an accolade like this for a store open less than 12 months makes a big difference to morale. Yes, we have had to change the product mix as new habits are forced upon us, but I do think that perhaps if we play our hand well, this pandemic just might be the making of the independent.

“Shop local – support small business. Onwards and upwards!”

Congratulation to Sian Currie, who describes her shop as “a teeny-weeny department store for anyone with the time for their own luxury bubble – whether that’s a good cuppa, some new shoes, a hand massage or a party dress. “It’s your bubble. You decide!”
